Founder/Head Coach

Micah grew up in Amherst, Ohio where he fell in love with the sport of swimming. Because of his love for the water, he began taking swim lessons when he was a toddler and would watch the swim team members come into the pool each day, longing to be a part of that team. He started his competitive swim career at age 9 and swam for over 10 years first with the YMCA and then with USA Swimming. He started coaching 5 years ago as an assistant coach for the CLE swim club and  Elyria Catholic High School.

Most recently, he had been developing a middle school team for the Berea-Midpark Middle School which grew into more than 35 swimmers. His goal was to develop these swimmers to be competitive for the high school team. Micah enjoys working with swimmers of all ages. His goals include helping swimmers to acquire good stroke skills, to establish a strong work ethic and good sportsmanship, and to develop into the best swimmers they can be. After coaching other teams to great success, he has decided to start a team in an area that he believes could benefit with a USA competitive team. Micah brings experience, partnered with young, innovative ideas, and strong motivation to start and grow a team to be top level in Northern Ohio!

Kevin Mccaffrey

Kevin began swimming at the age of 8.  He swam with the Elyria YMCA, the Vermilion YMCA and moved to USA swimming with CLE swim club.  He swam for Elyria Catholic High School, lettering all four years, and qualifying for the state championship meet his senior year placing in the top 16th in the 100 Breaststroke event.  He moved onto collegiate swimming at Wright State University for 3 years until they ended their swim program.  He swam the fly leg on the record breaking 200 Medley relay for Wright State. He transferred to the University of Cincinnati finishing his senior year, once again, swimming as anchor (freestyle) on the record breaking 200 Medley Relay.  He was instrumental in helping Cincinnati win the American Athletic Conference in 2019. Although his collegiate career has ended, he is currently training for the 2020 Olympic Trials in the 50 freestyle.

Kevin comes to GLAC excited to be developing a new team along with Micah.  He brings a passion and energy for proper dryland training and swim technique to develop the full potential of every swimmer.
